Will You Trust Facebook with Your Money?

Facebook is launching its own cryptocurrency Libra with the support of financial giants like MasterCard and Visa; payment providers like PayPal and Stripe; and other corporations including Uber, eBay, Spotify, and many others. Libra will allow Facebook to facilitate real-world monetary transactions and even act as an online credit card processing service. However, Facebook is known for pushing Leftist agendas and banning conservatives, and most of their backers follow the same practice.

Pushing the Leftist Agenda

Mark Zuckerberg himself admitted to Facebook’s liberal bias, and actual Facebook employees have claimed the company has problems with political diversity. Brian Amerige, a senior Facebook engineer, posted on the group’s internal message board, stating, “We are a political monoculture that’s intolerant of different views. We claim to welcome all perspectives but are quick to attack — often in mobs — anyone who presents a view that appears to be in opposition to left-leaning ideology.” This left-leaning bias is apparent in Facebook’s ban on Conservative personalities. Facebook has banned Infowars’ Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson, British provocateur Milo Yiannopolous, and Canadian Laura Loomer, claiming that the bans were because they promoted or engaged in violence and hate. While these personalities may have controversial views, none of them have actively promoted or engaged in violence. On the other hand, the far-Left group Antifa — which the FBI considers as a domestic terrorist group and actively encourages and participates in multiple acts of violence — gets a free pass.

Unpersoning of Conservatives

With largely Leftists partners in its cryptocurrency, Facebook will have the power to deny services to Conservatives. MasterCard and PayPal have been known to capitulate to Leftist outrage and ban or call for the banning of Conservative voices. Uber has banned Conservative Laura Loomer for criticizing Islam. Spotify has banned PragerU for not conforming and arguing against Leftist ideologies. Once Facebook’s Libra gets widespread use — or even preferential use through its partners eBay, Uber, Spotify, etc. expect Conservatives to be blatantly excluded to create a chilling effect on dissidents of the Leftist ideology.

Privacy and Security Questions

Facebook has a horrible track record when it comes to privacy and security. The company has been hacked multiple times, and millions of private content have been leaked — including photos that were saved but never posted. Unscrupulous app developers have taken advantage of Facebook’s lax data sharing policies as well as the almost non-existent oversight of developers. Even if Facebook perfected its privacy and security systems — with so many partners that have access to transactional data, your data would still be shared with the likes of MasterCard, PayPal, Uber, eBay, and many others. Without regulations that govern traditional financial institutions, Facebook and its partners will also have absolute authority over access and denial of their service, giving them the right to terminate or even confiscate your account whenever they want.

Facebook is a Left-leaning political entity. Even if it doesn’t push the Leftist agenda on the onset of its cryptocurrency, it will eventually do so. It has partnered with entities known to be Left-leaning and have a history of banning Conservatives or people that disagree with Leftist ideology. The dystopian future is coming, heralded by Facebook of all things.
